LABADIEVILLE, La. — Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon has announced the arrest of a Labadieville woman on multiple felony charges following an armed confrontation at a residence in the 300 block of Brusly Road.
Brittany L. Blanchard, 34, of 708 A Brule Road, was taken into custody after deputies responded Tuesday evening to a trespassing complaint that involved a firearm. According to the sheriff’s office, Blanchard had previously been warned not to return to the property after an earlier dispute with the resident.
Threats Led to Gunfire
Investigators say Blanchard went back to the residence Tuesday night carrying a large-caliber firearm. Upon arriving, she allegedly threatened the man who lived there, forcing him to retreat inside his own home for safety.
At some point during the confrontation, Blanchard fired a shot and then tried to force her way into the house, according to the release from the sheriff’s office.
Deputies who responded to the scene gathered evidence confirming that Blanchard had been armed and had discharged the weapon. They also recovered a firearm believed to be the one used during the incident. The investigation, led by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, resulted in her arrest on several charges tied to the confrontation.
Multiple Charges Filed
Blanchard now faces a list of felony and misdemeanor counts, including aggravated assault with a firearm, entering or remaining on property after being forbidden, criminal mischief, discharge of a firearm and use of dangerous instrumentalities, and resisting an officer. She was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and remains incarcerated as of Wednesday, pending a bond hearing.
