An Amber Alert is active in Clark County, Washington, after a 7-month-old boy was taken from the Hazel Dell area on Sunday by his father, who is accused of violating a domestic violence no-contact order at the time.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded around 10 a.m. Sunday after a woman protected under the order reported that Raul Martinez, 37, had come to her home and violated its terms. According to investigators, Martinez assaulted and robbed the woman, then assaulted the infant, Marcello Martinez, before leaving with him.
Washington State Patrol issued the Amber Alert for Marcello shortly afterward. Investigators believe the abduction happened sometime between 5 and 6 a.m. Sunday.
What Marcello and His Father Were Wearing
Marcello is described as 24 inches tall and about 16 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen in a blue onesie printed with “Grandma’s Are The Best” in green lettering.
Raul Martinez stands about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs around 180 pounds, also with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing tight sweatpants, a white shirt, and a blue and green jacket.
For much of Sunday and Monday, investigators had no vehicle description to work with. Washington State Patrol later said Martinez may be traveling with the baby in a late 1990s red Jeep Grand Cherokee, though the license plate number is not known.
Authorities are urging anyone who spots Raul or Marcello Martinez, or anyone matching their descriptions, to call 911 right away. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is also asking the public to reach its non-emergency line at 360 693 3111 with any information, referencing case number 26006104.
As of Monday afternoon, no arrests had been made, and the whereabouts of both father and child remained unknown. Authorities have not said whether they believe the pair are still in the Vancouver area or may have left the state.
